Case Study: Housing

Merrill Gardens at Queen Anne

Located across the street from an associated assisted living building, this community caters to seniors of a more independent nature. The close proximity allows residents optional services of the assisted living and the opportunity to “age in place.” A small lounge, gaming and café area off the entry encourages social interaction among residents, and a roof top garden with sweeping views of the downtown Seattle skyline hosts outdoor gatherings. The building form and a playful palette of materials are meant to reflect the independent nature of its tenants.
