Case Study: Housing
Located in the heart of Seattle’s Greenwood-Phinney Neighborhood, this 31-unit mixed-use building provides affordable housing for low income and homeless families with children. The design focuses on creating a strong sense of community, both within the building and with the surrounding neighborhood. The orientation of the housing units around a central common courtyard encourages personal interaction while reinforcing individuality and a sense of home. The courtyard provides usable open space, light and air, and a place for social interaction and child’s play.
