Case Study: Urban Mixed-Use

Union SLU

This project is situated along a steep hillside in South Lake Union. To reduce the potential monolithic character of a 430 foot long site, the building is broken down into four smaller masses interconnected by single loaded corridors. By orienting the units and courtyards towards Lake Union and Dexter Avenue N, the layout takes advantage of the sloping site and eastern exposure of the sun. Special attention to detail of how the building meets the street will further enhance the pedestrian experience along Dexter Avenue N.
