Case Study: Urban Mixed-Use

Square One

Located in Seattle’s Roosevelt neighborhood, 1020 NE 63rd integrates unique features of the site in the building design such as the project’s perimeter bordering a public right of way on all sides.  The design addresses each side of the property’s boundaries at the ground and upper levels by varying the degrees of transparency, keeping public spaces light and open while protecting residents’ privacy with appropriate screening. Special attention was paid to the ground level live/work units to create habitable living spaces. The residential amenities encourage social interaction among neighbors and includes a two level community room on the fifth and sixth floors, and a large rooftop terrace with views to the south and west.
