Constanza Marcheselli, Principal

Architect, AIA, LEED® AP BD+C

Argentina-born and New Orleans-raised, the allure of sustainable and urban architecture brought Constanza Marcheselli to Seattle. After years of hands-on experience with project construction, she has a well-honed ability to focus on both the macro and micro levels of projects as they move from design to completed development. Constanza’s love of design began when she was very young and has matured into an abiding passion for the intimate process of turning an idea into functional, beautifully livable housing. After spending a year in Madrid, Spain studying Spanish architecture, Constanza returned to the United States with a European appreciation of paired down, graceful design that continues to influence her approach and architectural style.

At Runberg Architecture Group, Constanza specializes in affordable housing and affordable senior housing. She finds the challenges inherent in these projects artistically stimulating and personally rewarding. Her love of walking and pedestrian mobility is reflected in one of Constanza’s most notable projects – 9th and Pine in downtown Seattle – where movement along the two streets was a prime consideration. Keenly aware of the historic Camlin Hotel and Paramount Theater adjacent to the project, Constanza honored these community icons by designing an understated facade that complements the neighborhood’s rich past.

Constanza is a quiet advocate of affordable housing and integrated social housing. Her design approach stems from an interest in combining strong concepts with the realities of limited budgets. To engage communities in the design process, Constanza regularly facilitates design charrettes to encourage input and ideas from neighbors. Her knowledge as an architect and a LEED® AP professional supports the creative design of sustainably-based, high quality affordable housing.

Constanza holds a master’s degree in architecture from Tulane University. Prior to joining Runberg, she was with Bassenian Lagoni Architects in California.
